About me
Sarah Newens is a Human Factors Engineer with over 15 years working in consumer product safety. She received her Master of Science degree in 2005 from Virginia Tech where she conducted research on driver behavior in response to in-vehicle haptic and auditory warnings at intersections. She spent 12 years at the Consumer Product Safety Commission in the Human Factors Division performing product safety assessments and supporting several projects including ATVs, ROVs, liquid laundry packets, infant inclined sleep products, and the supplemental mattress petition. Since 2017, she has provided consulting services directly to manufacturers including feedback on product design, conducting CPSC data queries and market searches, and developing instructions and warnings.
