About me
Joe has a distinguished background operating at the intersection of business and government, culminating in his service as a Commissioner on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from 2014 - 2017. After leaving public service, Joe developed his product safety management and litigation support practice at Dentons, Troutman Sanders (now Troutman Pepper Locke), and forensic engineering firm, ESi (Engineering Systems Inc.).
A board-certified product safety management expert, Joe brings real world product safety experience and an insider’s regulatory knowledge to bear. He specializes in adverse event analysis, regulatory compliance counseling and litigation support (expert testimony).
Prior to his presidential appointment as a Commissioner, Joe spent seven years in the private sector with Intertek Group plc, a multinational inspection, product testing and certification company. He led global teams in providing compliance and risk management services to some of the world's largest consumer brands and most complex supply chains.
Joe has an intimate understanding of the CPSC, having previously served as chief of staff and director of international programs before joining Intertek. Joe served two terms in the New Mexico Legislature from 1999 - 2002.
